Villa Serena” is a private hospital located in Forlì, Italy.Forlì is a medium-large city of Emilia-Romagna (about 108,000 inhabitants), about 50 Km south-east of Bologna and about 40 Km north-west of Rimini. It is accessible both by car (highway A14 from Bologna to Ancona) and by train (Bologna-Rimini). Forlì airport (5 Km form the centre of town) operates mainly cargo transportation, but recently Ryanair has started a daily direct flight from and to London Stansted. In addition, Bologna Airport has several daily flights to various destinations in the UK and Europe. Transportation from and to Bologna airport can be easily arranged.
Since 1950, “Villa Serena” has been operating both on a private basis and under contract with the Italian national health system. A full structural renovation of the building was completed three years ago. The wards are distributed over 4 floors for a total of 147 beds. Most of the rooms are two-bed rooms with a separate bathroom. Special meals can be arranged according to dietary requirements.
Three surgical theatres operate simultaneously. In addition, a separate “minor surgery” theatre functions for digestive and urological endoscopical procedures. A post-surgical intensive therapy facility is also available.
The vast majority of the 6,000 yearly admissions concerns surgical patients, often referred from other Italian regions for both in- and out-patient surgery.
As far as number of beds, admissions, and surgical procedures performed, “Villa Serena” is the third-largest private hospital in Emilia-Romagna.
